Time: about 35 mins.

Distance: 5.61 km.

Average pace: Not sure.

Route:  finally a new route!

Today I felt like a bit of a change. I was getting a bit bored with the route I had been doing so I decided to spice things up a little. Only a little though. The weather was much milder but a lot less sunny and a whole lot damper. It was one of those odd days on which you feel you should be wrapping up warm when you look out the window, but when you get outside it’s quite pleasant. The probrem with this type of weather is that you tend to wear all the wrong running gear. I found myself way over dressed and having to strip off layers along the way.

The run itself was actually really good. The stiffness in my legs seems to have eased off and my body appears to be getting back into the swing of things. I still felt as though I was running out of steam at about the three quarter way mark, but for some reason it didn’t seem to bother me that much. I guess it has something to do with the knowledge that I am actually doing something about it. It might also have something to do with the change in the route. Having different scenery to look at while you suffer really does make all the difference in the world.

Another interesting development is my new found ease of breathing. I have changed nothing in this area; it just seems to take a bit more to get me out of breath. All in all I am really pleased with the rate at which I am feeling improvements. I suppose this is due to the fact that I am not really new to exercise, rather I am just returning after a short hiatus of about a month and a half.  The fact I’m now also getting back into the pool has something to do with it.

Despite all the positives feelings I had about today’s run, even at the time and not just in hindsight, I still held myself back, so I could make the most of my time in the pool tonight.
